We are excited to launch a brand new volunteer program this summer with new opportunities to engage our students and the Sheltering Arms community! If you are interested in volunteering with Sheltering Arms, please take a moment to fill out this brief application to receive additional updates as the program launch gets closer.

For more than 130 years, members of our community have helped make our mission possible by generously sharing their time, talents and resources.
We have individual and group volunteers who support us in our centers, working directly with our children and staff, helping us staff special events, or lending a hand with other projects.
Adopt-A-Center – all year
Adopt the center of your choice. Quarterly volunteering; know the children and families, and help with center-specific projects and requests.
Spring Service Day – half day or full day
Help make early childhood education sparkle! Your group of 10 to 30 people may choose a half day or full day. Activities include yard work, playground spruce, and other center-specific requests. Available at all 14 locations.
Read to Me – Dates coming soon!
Inspire a love of learning by reading to a class and serving as a classroom assistant! Activities follow the teacher’s day plan. Available at all 14 locations.
Teach a Life Skills Workshop – all year
As a part of Sheltering Arms’ supportive family services, professionals
from our partners provide various workshops, including: financial literacy, health & wellness, employment coaching, and relationship skills. Please lend us your expertise!
Diaper Drive – February 1 – March 14 & June 1 – July 15
Help make a difference for families dealing with diaper need. Your team, club, place of worship or company may host a drive and deliver donations to the Sheltering Arms center nearest you!
Operation Storybook – April
Join us as a volunteer for Sheltering Arms annual Read-A-Thon, kicking off a year
of literacy, learning, and fun for 3,000 infants, toddlers and preschoolers in metro Atlanta. Available at all 14 locations.
Adopt-a-Family for the Holidays – October 15 – December 9
Spread some holiday cheer by selecting a Sheltering Arms family to adopt and purchase the items on their wish list. A family profile and a detailed wish list will be provided.
Equity & Conversation
Equity & Conversation is Sheltering Arms’ thought leadership forum where community leaders and professionals network and join in a discussion about early childhood education trends that could impact service to the children and families we serve.
Embrace Early & Create the Future Event – September 15, 2022
Sheltering Arms’ annual gala that brings Atlanta’s corporate, civic and community leaders and organizations together to celebrate the power and promise of quality early childhood education.
